Metabolys SAS, a spin-off from the University Claude Bernard-Lyon 1 and the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM), is a privately held preclinical stage company with headquarters in the Laennec Faculty of Medicine in Lyon. The company was launched in November 2008 but its activity started in October 2009.
Metabolys acts as a CRO for predicting the safety and efficacy of test compounds developed by the pharmaceutical, chemical, cosmetic and agro-food industries by using cellular metabolomics, a very innovative approach which provides next-generation biomarkers. Cellular metabolomics has been developed at Metabolys thanks to the contribution of a skillful and experienced multidisciplinary team of scientists competent in physiology, biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, pharmaco-toxicology, NMR spectrometry and mathematical modeling of metabolic pathways. This novel approach drastically reduces the risk, time and cost of selection and development of these compounds.
Metabolys also successfully develops its own drug discovery line in the diabetes field.
